A FISH, A FOOT AND A BOWLING PIN

The fish
The foot
and the bowling pin.
Darling Daughter and her Cheeky Baby brought me some goldfish to cheer me up.  I have been "sort of" sitting still for a week now.  The Fall list of garden duties and the creative ideas flowing through my mind are beginning to drive me crazy. Doesn't it sound like fun to go to the Rose Bowl Flea Market?  I wonder if Cheeky Baby will share her stroller.....

NOTE TO SELF

Upon finding out that you are having an unexpected dinner party in five hours, never, never pick up a big box and fling yourself out the backdoor.  Just don't do it.

To Garden in Ruins

Darling Husband and I are occasionally given a blank slate to start a new garden here.  We always consider the surrounding buildings and gardens in any given area.  But, can you imagine starting a new garden amist ruins that are
hundreds of years old? What an amazing backdrop to plant around.  The gardens in England are my favorite.  While we are there I always start to think about all the things I want to do in my garden at home.  When we get home there is always the painful realization that it is 105 degrees and most definitely not raining for a couple hours each and every day.
If only we had a couple ruins in our garden.

THE FRUIT OF OUR LABOR

The last couple of days there has been just a slight hint of Fall in the morning air.  Real or imagined, I am not sure, but I feel it in my bones that the blessings of Fall are near.
This summer has given us the best, sweetest tomatoes we have ever produced.  It also came with the loss of our darling Bailey and an unwelcome health report for my Father.
Cool mornings, pumpkins and harvest feel within reach now. I am ready for the new season.

FAMILY, COCONUT CAKE, BBQ, & A VERY SPECIAL LADY

We gathered to celebrate a very special birthday lady.  Our friend, mother, grandmother & mother- in- law turned 89 years old. We are all so blessed by her life. This woman is a dear friend and support to me.  I love her completely.

Papa bought a motorhome

We took the train to Fresno and picked up the motor home. What a fun day we had.  Of course, the kids are making jokes at our expense but they all are very interested in going with us traveling.
Precious Son and his friend took turns behind the wheel.
And our Cheeky Baby honked the horn too!
I know that by tomorrow morning, Darling Husband will remove this sticker, so I had to get a picture of it while it is in place.

The Things We Need

Beauty
History
Traveling in England and Scotland has made me really see things in a different light.  The rich history of these countries is a large part of everyday life for people.  There is pride and concern and knowledge of their history.  History is a vital part of their current thinking process.

Such An Invitation...

Who could turn down such an invitation?  Eating while in England is such a treat.  People always tell us the food isn't good in England.  Our experience after traveling there on five different trips has been that the food is very, very good. Steak and Ale Pie is my favorite.  Don't even get me started on afternoon tea!  The very best idea that has ever been put into practice. Yorkshire Tea and scones with jam at 3pm, you bet; count me in.
Hanging baskets filled with bright flowers are everywhere.  The joy of never needing to water must be wonderful.
I love that people name their homes.
